Destined for a long life, this brooding Shiraz is also immediately appealing with fragrant aromas of mixed berry, blackcurrant, violet and vanillin oak, together with outstanding concentration and multi-layered mouthfeel. Gold medal.
If anyone doubts the quality of the ’17 vintage, take a careful look at this. Its colour is deep crimson-purple; the bouquet is rich and complex, with a subtext of spice to the plush plum and blackberry fruit, the palate bringing ripe, spicy tannins into play right on cue. It’s medium to full-bodied in a relaxed mood, the balance, such that it’s drinking span starts tonight and extends for decades to come. 96 points.
A brilliant expression of McLaren Vale shiraz, showing pristine dark berry fruit enhanced by seamlessly integrated oak. This is a wine to wait for and cellar for at least ten years. 5 stars.
