Tasting Note

Bright cherry red in colour. The fragrant cherry aromas and flavours of the Tempranillo lead, harmonising with the earthiness of the Monastrell and the Turkish delight of the Grenache. Textural elements structure and enhance the vibrant fruit flavours of this medium bodied wine.

New wine from Shingleback. Blend of 59% tempranillo, 23% mourvèdre and 18% grenache.
It’s a clovey red with raspberry, violets and earth flavours flushing through a dry, almost strict, palate. The combination of ripe fruit, floral overtones and savoury dryness is a winner, particularly for the dinner table.

Dark berry fruitiness, dark chocolate, salted plums, green herbs and clove/cedar spice. Sloshy, joyous texture with ripe forest berry fruit character is the order of the day. A touch sweet on exit, but flavours linger and the wine is easy to slug down. Simple done really well, with just enough personality to take it to the next level. 89 points.

Given the wine's name and its Spanish varieties, garnacha would have been more appropriate - and they're bush vines. Still, tempranillo leads 59%, monastrell 23% and grenache 18% a frisky juicy combo of sweet fruit, ripe tannins and plenty of zest appeal.
